January 29, 2021: The ribbon cutting ceremony offered a short respite from Advanced Technology Corp’s work schedule of continuing to roll out and innovate the COVID VADDS platform in addition to doing the same for VADDS and Vetstar. Having worked extensively with many departments within Delaware State University (DSU), it was rewarding to see them officially open their new Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory.
The event was attended by various elected officials from all throughout the hierarchy of Delaware. Both US Senators for Delaware (Chris Coons, and Tom Carper) were present along with US Representative Lisa Blunt and Matt Meyer (New Castle County Executive). Also present were many of the leaders of DSU, various county and state health officials and Advanced Technology Corp President, Joseph J. Bove.

“We have asked Advanced Technology Corp to do everything at a speed that will save lives in a pandemic, to complete the IT for a COVID-19 test laboratory that should take years in a matter of weeks,” said County Executive Meyer. “I personally have been with ATC in the laboratory at 1 am. on Christmas Eve, so that this incredible effort was completed ahead of schedule. This exciting partnership is one more step to help us emerge from this horrific time a little faster and a little stronger as a community.”
Using COVID VADDS as the backbone for data capture and results delivery, this laboratory will service students and staff at Delaware State University as well as the local community.
Bove explained the significant benefits of what DSU will be able to offer. “Effective surveillance requires all of the following components: accurate results using the best technology; rapid turn around time; and cost-effectiveness. Delaware State University is poised to offer results using the best testing methodology for coronavirus (real-time PCR) within 24-hours at a fraction of the current cost. The partnership between DSU and New Castle County offers a rare across the board win in these challenging days. We are fortunate to be able to play a role in this.”
